The purpose of a support group is to assist an individual in learning how to
cope and deal with
a certain situation and it allows participants the opportunity to share
common experiences. Support group participants learn to explore issues of
importance, learn how to make life changes, decrease anxiety, set
realistic goals and stay motivated to avoid "burnout." Support groups can
be for a variety of issues, examples are health, economic and social.
